HAL Converts Its Convention Centre Into COVID Care Centre In Bengaluru

Joining Bengaluru's fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the public sector aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has converted one of its convention centres into a COVID-19 Care centre (CCC) and handed it over to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), reports Hindu Businessline.

The newly converted CCC has a capacity of 160 beds and has been built up in just 16 days. In the initial days, the facility will be used to treat asymptomatic patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Ghatage Convention Centre of the HAL which has been transformed into a CCC is located on Bengaluru's Old Airport Road, and the facility is being equipped with doctors and paramedical staff by the BBMP.

This contribution to the national fight against COVID-19 comes in addition to its contribution of Rs 26.25 crore to the PM-Cares fund.

HAL has also produced and handed over as many as 300 aerosol boxes to the State Governments of Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The company has also distributed scores of PPE kits and masks, in addition to providing food and shelter to migrant labourers.
