Haryana: Khattar Government Approves Rs 334 Crore For Alternate Route Connecting Panipat-Delhi To Decongest NH-44

A second route to decongest the existing Panipat-Delhi section of the National Highway-44 is in the offing with the Haryana government approving a Rs 334-crore proposal, reports Tribune India.
The road will initially connect Panipat Refinery with Haiderpur Ring Road in Delhi. It will replace the narrow and dilapidated road that goes along the Munak canal, which reaches Delhi through Panipat and Sonepat districts.
The 80-km route was proposed due to the increasing traffic on the Panipat-Delhi section of NH-44. According to the report, it was considered that the road between Harewali (Delhi) and Munak (Karnal), will be widened to serve as a parallel road.
State Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had earlier asked the Haryana State Road Development Corporation (HSRDC) to look into the idea of augmenting and widening the road.
The HSRDC found that an alternative 7-metre-wide road between Siwah (Panipat) and Harewali (Delhi) was feasible in the first phase. Efforts would be made to connect road from Harewali to Munak as a slight alignment was needed.
Being an inter-state project, the proposal would now be sent to the National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board.
