Members of Junaid’s family.
Family of 15-year-old Junaid Khan, who was stabbed to death on board a Delhi-Mathura train on Thursday evening, has refuted claims that the boy was attacked over rumours of carrying beef, saying that the argument that ended in violence started over the availability of seats in the train, Amar Ujala has reported.
Junaid was stabbed soon after the train left Ballabgarh station. He later died at the Civil Hospital in Palwal. According to the post-mortem report received by the Faridabad police on Saturday, Junaid died of stab wounds sustained in his arms.
Despite the Government Railway Police saying the argument that resulted in Junaid’s death started over train seats, various media reports had claimed the boy was attacked because the mob suspected him of carrying beef.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
