Haryana: Yamunanagar Tops The Chart By Generating 16,000 Golden Cards Under Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Yamunanagar district in Haryana leads in Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Abhiyan (PM JAY), or Ayushman Bharat scheme, in the state by generating 16,000 golden cards till date, reports Tribune India.

The “golden card” is part of the government-funded Ayushman Bharat scheme where a person can register himself for Rs.30 and get the card, using which he or she can avail Rs 5 lakh worth of medical benefits at any good hospital for free. The Karnal district came second with 12,172 cards, followed by Hisar with 11,274 cards.

Dr Vijay Dahiya, Medical Superintendent, Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital-cum-nodal officer of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Yamunanagar, said the target was to provide the facility to more than 92,000 families in the district.

He said all government and empanelled private hospitals were generating golden cards and providing free medical facilities to the beneficiaries. Apart from district and sub-district civil hospital, the golden card can now also be generated in community health centres (CHCs) of the district, he added.

As per the report, two patients admitted to Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital in Yamunanagar, Afsa and Ruby Rani, have expressed satisfaction with the free of cost treatment under the scheme.

PM Modi had launched the Ayushman Bharat scheme on 25 September 2018 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The government-funded healthcare scheme, aimed at the deprived and impoverished, provides a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
