Union Health Secretary, Preeti Sudan launched the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) as a part of the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) on 26 November 2018.
The initiative will provide near-real-time data to policymakers for detecting outbreaks, reducing the morbidity and mortality and lessening disease burden in the people, according to a Press Information Bureau press release.
“For World Health Organisation (WHO), it has been a privilege to support the development of the platform in collaboration with numerous government stakeholders,” said WHO Representative to India, Dr Henk Bekedam.
IHIP uses the latest technologies to collect and secure health record management, which will help better diagnosis of diseases, reduce patient re-visits and prevent medical errors and to take better decisions.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
