The Border Security Force (BSF) is planning to build a ‘selfie tower’ for tourists at India-Pakistan border, Times of India has reported. The tower will come up at ‘zero point’ which is located 25 km from Nadabet in Suigam district of Gujarat. The location of the tower is less than 150 m from the Indo-Pakistan border fence.
Tourists will be able to take a selfie with the border fence in the backdrop. Beyond the fence, tourists can also see the village Balotra of Nagarparkar district. The state government had organised a ‘Seema Darshan’ (border sightseeing) two years ago. The number of tourists to ‘zero point’ has been on the rise.
“The state government has started constructing the selfie tower in collaboration with the BSF to promote tourism under the Seema Darshan programme,” BSF Inspector General, Gujarat, G S Malik, told Times of India. The Sarpanch of Suigam, Vihaji Rupani, said two more selfie towers have been planned.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
