Here’s What We Know So Far About India’s Strike Against PoK Terror Camps 

The Indian Army conducted surgical strikes last night (29 September) at terror launch pads inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the Ministry of Defence informed the nation earlier today.

The army inflicted heavy casualty on terrorists being trained in these camps, and the Pakistan Army that was firing to protect these proxies was dealt with in equal measure. No Indian casualties occurred during the surgical strikes.

Talking to the media following the CCS meeting, the Indian Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said that the operation was carried out based on specific and credible intelligence that terrorists were planning to cross over the Line of Control (LoC), which necessitated the pre-emptive strike.

Here is what we know so far about the strikes

- The strikes started at around midnight and went on till 4:30am in the morning.

- According to Defence Expert Nitin A Gokhale, the surgical strikes occurred on terror launch pads and posts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from India's 19, 25 and 28 divisions located in Baramulla, Rajouri and Kupwara districts respectively.

- Reports suggest that over five terror camps set up by Pakistan Army near the LoC were destroyed.

- According to Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who warned India of nuclear strikes yesterday, said two Pakistani soldiers were killed and over nine were injured in the strike.

- Raids were conducted 500m to 2km across the LoC.

- Punjab villages which are 10km from the international border with Pakistan are being evacuated, and additional Border Security Force (BSF) troops have moved in closer.

- Statement by NSC Spokesperson Ned Price: “Ambassador Rice strongly condemned the September 18 cross-border attack on the Indian Army Brigade headquarters in Uri and offered condolences to the victims and their families.”

- At least one media outlet has reported, citing Army sources, that 38 terrorists were killed during the strikes.

- According to reports, paratroopers of the Special Forces were involved. The commandos were airdropped near the LoC by choppers, from where they crossed over to the Pakistani side.

- The strikes were carried out in Bhimber, Hotspring, Kel and Lipa sectors on Pakistan's side of the LoC.

- Army sources have claimed that they possess video evidence of the strikes, including footage shot by drones. These, they have claimed, will be released when appropriate.

- DGMO Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh briefed the all-party meeting on the strikes. Representatives of the Congress, the NCP, the CPI(M), the BSP, the Shiv Sena, the LJSP and the TDP attend the meeting.
