The Amit Shah led Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has cracked down on the Delhi government over lapses in the implementation of the nationwide lockdown announced by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, reports Press Trust of India.
MHA on Sunday (30 March) issued directives suspending two senior bureaucrats of the Delhi government with immediate effect while two other senior bureaucrats have been issued showcause notices.
Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against the four officers over their dereliction of duty regarding the containment of the pandemic in the national capital.
The two who have been suspended are Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) and Principal Secretary (Finance) who also holds the post of Divisional Commissioner. Meanwhile, the two against whom showcause notices have been issued include Additional Chief Secretary (Home and land buildings) and SDM (Seelampur).
The directives of immediate actions against the four senior officials were issued by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla who is the Chairperson of the National Executive Committee which has been formed under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 under which the lockdown has been announced by PM Modi.
