Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian (PTI)
Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India Arvind Subramanian took on ratings agencies during his press conference today (31 January) on the Economic Survey of India. He said the agencies were inconsistent and unreasonable in their methodology while rating India and China.
Subramanian pointed to the fact that China was rated six notches above India despite the drastic fall in China’s gross domestic product. India’s gains were being ignored in the process. He said questions must be raised about “this astonishing inconsistency shown by rating agencies”.
