A vast and well-oiled network is in place to turn the Rohingya into ‘Indians’, right from agents that help them infiltrate the country, to local organisations which get them forged ID cards and protect them against authorities, Times Of India has reported.

The network operates through agents from Guwahati and Kolkata, who help facilitate the Rohingya infiltrate India through transit agreements at border crossings. Once they are in the country, they are taken to temporary settlements in West Bengal before being moved to other parts of the country. Once they reach their destination, they seek support of local Muslim organisations in getting fake identity documents and ensuring that they are not questioned or uprooted by local authorities.

As the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh is slated to meet the chief or home ministers of the eastern states, including West Bengal, the issue of the Rohingya infiltration is supposed to be brought up.

A Home Ministry official said, "Since West Bengal accounts for 1,900km of the nearly 4,000 km-long India-Bangladesh border, it has two major crossing points for the Rohingya and also a thriving network of local agents facilitating their transit. We need to sensitise state police to take action as the Rohingya Muslims are a potential security threat”.

"Of late, some attempts by Rohingya to move to states like Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, have come to notice. There has also been new influx of immigrants into Jammu, Hyderabad, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands," said an intelligence officer.

An intelligence report states that, once the Rohingya are settled in the country, they actively get involved in proselytisation and other Islamist practices through local mosques. The money for their activities is arranged via the Hawala route.

The network being so complex and evolved, indicates that there’s a high level of planning going into the Rohingya infiltration of India, and that they might not be the simple refugees as several ‘human-rights activists’ claim. The government had earlier petitioned that the Rohingya are a national security threat and as the network comes under the scanner, the government’s claim seems to be getting vindicated.
