HRD Ministry Announces Four Year Integrated B Ed Course; Admissions To Begin From Current Academic Session Itself

The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal yesterday (25 July) told lawmakers at the Rajya Sabha that the government has finalised an integrated four-year B Ed course which will be available to applicants from this session itself, reports The Times of India.
A notification regarding the same has already been uploaded by the ministry, according to Pokhriyal. The different variants of the integrated course are BA.B Ed, BCom.B Ed. and BSc.B Ed.
The minister noted that the new programme would allow students to save one year. He also stated that in light of recent amendments to the Right to Education Act, which make it mandatory for all teachers to get relevant training, the teachers who had still not been trained had to get trained by 31 October 2019.
Furthermore, Pokhriyal revealed that currently there were over 15 lakh students enrolled in training courses for teachers across 19,542 institutions.
