The Chinese telecom gear major, Huawei Technologies has approached the Government of India and requested it to take an independent stand on the firm's participation in the country's 5G network development, reports Economic Times.

The request left the telecom department divided as the telecom giant has been black-listed by the US president Donald Trump in May due to security concerns, followed by scrutiny all over the world.

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad recently underscored that his department would take a serious look into the issue of the Chinese company being allowed to participate in the domestic 5G trials which the government plans to hold later this year.

Huawei India's chief executive Jay Chen is hoping that the Indian decision will not be influenced by the US pressure on matter. It should be noted that the company has been closely engaged with the Department of Telecom for almost six to eight months.
