Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou Gets Bail From Canadian Court, Trump Says He Might Intervene In The Matter

Huawei’s chief financial officer (CFO) Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested by Canadian authorities following allegations of fraud by United states, has been granted bail by a Canadian court on Tuesday (11 November), Indian Express has reported.
Meng was granted 10 million Canadian dollars bail in a court hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia, by Justice William Ehrchke. She was jailed since 1 December after US accused her of misleading multinational banks about Iran-linked transactions and thereby facilitating violation of its sanctions on the country.
Her arrest had drawn sharp criticism from China which threatened Canada of severe consequences if Meng was not released. The move is expected to reduce the tensions between the two countries.
During her bail period, Meng will be subjected to electronic monitoring and other conditions. However, the case will go on and If a Canadian judge rules that case against Meng has solid grounds, she may face extradition to US. The call to extradite will be made by the Justice Minister of Canada.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has said that he would intervene in the case by Justice department if it would serve security interests of America or help close a trade deal with China.
