In a big boost to the government's Make in India push to boost manufacturing in the country, South Korean automotive major Hyundai Motor's India unit has started to export its all-new India-made i20 premium hatchback cars, reports Economic Times.
As of November 2020, the company had already exported 5.16 lakh units of the i20 cars since the first generation launch in 2007 and is now set to export the first batch of the fourth generation i20 cars to South Africa, Chile and Peru.
With more than 30 lakh of its Made in India vehicles exported in 2020, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) is the largest automobile exporter in India and currently exports India made cars to 88 nations spread over five continents.
In March 2008, HMIL has surpassed 5 lakh exports milestone in India. Since then, it has gone on to double that tally by February 2010, and further crossed the 20 lakh exports milestone mark in March 2014.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
