US President Donald Trump while addressing a press conference on Tuesday (25 February) said that he wants to leave decisions with regards to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to India.

Trump when quizzed over CAA and the violence in Delhi, responded by saying that he had a long discussion with Prime Minister Modi over religious freedom and added that the latter highly committed to ensure the same.

Trump said that while he had heard about the acts of violence in Delhi he did not discuss the matter with Prime Minister Modi.

Trump also answered questions on other issues like Kashmir - which he described as a “big problem between India and Pakistan”, while denying claims that he has offered to mediate between the two nations.

He though claimed that he will work towards combating Pakistan backed terrorism as he enjoys a good relationship with both Prime Minister Modi and Imran Khan.
