A photographer from Ayodhya who worked for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement has revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a visit to the town in 1991 had vowed to return back to Ayodhya when the construction of the Ram Mandir began.

As per a report in Times of India, the photographer Mahendra Tripathi had clicked a picture of Prime Minister Modi with senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi when they visited the Janmabhoomi site in 1991.

Tripathi goes on to say that when he and some local journalists asked Prime Minister Modi (then introduced to them as a BJP leader from Gujarat) as to when he would return back to Ayodhya, he replied that he would come back when the construction of Ram Mandir will begin.

"...when I and also some local journalists asked Modi ji when he would return to Ayodhya, he replied, I will come back when the construction of Ram Mandir will begin", says Tripathi.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Ayodhya on 5 August for Ram Mandir's Bhoomi Pujan at the Janmabhoomi. He will be accompanied by leaders like L K Advani and will place a 40 kg silver brick at the construction site.
