The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) is set to introduce a 2 to 3 per cent reservation for its flagship two-year Master of Business of Administration (MBA) course from the 2019-2021 session to implement quota for economically weaker sections (EWS) of the general category, reports Times of India.
The report cited sources as saying that the institute will also increase the number of seats by 18 to a total of 480 from this year.
“Moreover, the government had been pushing for implementing the 10% increase under the quota within the next two years. We have made an exception and will be implementing the same in three years, ” the official added.
The IIM-C, in order to increase the intake of students, in the next few years will focus on setting up new academic infrastructure including construction of adequate number of hostels, additional classrooms and faculty offices.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
