Nagaur is the only constituency in Rajasthan where you would see BJP's name replaced by another entrant. Not Congress. Here, is Rashtriya Loktantra Party, which had announced its arrival last year, fighting for BJP. Leading from here is Hanuman Beniwal, the party's founder himself. The NDA is leading on all seats in the western state. It had won all seats in 2014.
Beniwal is leading in Nagaur by 96,128 votes against Jyoti Mirdha of Congress. BJP seems to have been embraced by the tribal vote in Rajasthan and other aspects of caste math seems to be in its favour.
Another likely upset for Congress could be in Jodhpur, where Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot is trailing. Jodhpur was recently in the news for communal clashes. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is leading by a considerable margin - 1,23,560 votes.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
