Dassault Aviation’s CEO, Eric Trappier, has denied allegations levelled by Congress President Rahul Gandhi against the company in connection with the Rafale deal, as reported by Zee News.

Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party has has time and again alleged conspiracy in Anil Ambani bagging a part of the offset clause mandated in the Rafale deal.

Following the allegations, Trappier in an interview to ANI said that, “I don’t lie. The truth I declared earlier and the statements I made are true. I don’t have a reputation of lying. In my position as CEO, you don’t lie”.

Stating that the deal between the French and Indian governments was free of any partisan bias, he noted, “We have a long experience with the Congress party. Our first deal was with India in 1953 with Nehru and other prime ministers. We have been working with India. We are not working for any party. We are supplying strategic products like fighters to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian government. That is what is most important.”

On 2 November, Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, had alleged “huge” corruption in the Rafale deal of Rs 59,000 crores. He commented, “Dassault gave Rs 284 crore to a loss-making company with a valuation of Rs 8.3 lakh. This is the first instalment of kickbacks that have been given to Anil Ambani.”
