In Pictures: Indian Railways Redevelops Assam’s Tinsukia Junction To Give It World Class Makeover

Indian Railways has redeveloped the New Tinsukia Junction Station in Tinsukia district, Assam to give it a delightful makeover under the Railway Ministry’s station redevelopment and beautification initiative, the Financial Express reports.

The railways invested Rs 5 crore in the redevelopment to provide with a number of modern facilities and amenities. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal shared photos of the redeveloped stations on Twitter.

The major highlight of the station is the new airport-like air-conditioned executive lounge. The lounge offers a separate sitting area, dining area, pantry area and attached washrooms. The station now also has a separate first-class waiting hall with attached modern cubical washrooms for women.

The existing second class waiting hall has been upgraded from 30-40 passengers to 70-80 passengers. The pay and use toilets have also been upgraded to modern cubical toilets.

The station now has the provision to include six commercial outlets in the station and hence increase the platform surface area to ensure hassle-free passenger movement. The station now has 20 water booths in total with separate low height booths.
