India And Luxembourg Set To Hold First Standalone Bilateral Meet In Two Decades

India and Luxembourg are set to hold the first-ever standalone bilateral summit in over two decades on 19 November in a virtual fashion, reports Livemint.
The summit will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Xavier Bettel interact and discuss the entire spectrum of the bilateral relationship, including the strengthening of cooperation in the post-COVID-19 world. The two leaders will also be sharing views on various international and global issues of mutual interests.
"The leaders will discuss the entire spectrum of bilateral relationship, including strengthening of India-Luxembourg cooperation in the post-COVID world. They will also exchange views on international and global issues of mutual interest," MEA said.
In the past, PM Modi and PM Bettel have met each other on three occasions. The two nations have also maintained high-level exchanges in the recent past.
It should be noted that Luxembourg is one of the most important financial centres in the world, and several Luxembourg based investment funds hold substantial banking and asset management market share in portfolio investments in India. A host of Indian companies have raised capital by issuing Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
