As a sign of bolstering Indo-Kyrgyz ties, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Friday (14 June) announced a $200 million Line of Credit for Kyrgyzstan in the presence of his counterpart, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, reports Economic Times.
The two leaders held wide-ranging meetings as they elevated the ties between the two nations to a Strategic Partnership level, while also signing 15 agreements, including one to eliminate double taxation.
PM Modi, during the joint address also apprised the media persons that the two sides have prepared a five-year-plan to increase the bilateral trade. The two nations also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) in the field of health, security, defence and information and communication technology.
"India and Kyrgyzstan are now strategic partners! In a major outcome of the visit, both countries have decided to add strategic dimension to our ties to boost our relationship in defence & security, trade & investment, health, education & development cooperation, among other areas," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted after the talks between the two leaders.
