India Fights Corona: National Health Authority Partners With Uber To Provide Transportation To Healthcare Workers

The National Health Authority (NHA) has gotten into a partnership with cab-hailing aggregator Uber India to facilitate safe, reliable and efficient transportation to healthcare workers who are leading the nation's fight against the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, reports Hindustan Times.
Under the partnership, Uber India will initially provide a provision of 150 cars to support medical facilities free of cost in an array of cities, including New Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Patna.
The services will be provided by Uber under its recently-launched UberMedic service under which the cars provided to NHA will be equipped with roof-to-floor plastic sheeting enclosing the driver's seat, which shall act as a barrier between the driver and the rider healthcare workers.
Furthermore, each of these cars would be subjected through disinfection exercise after every ride to ensure the highest possible standards of safety and hygiene, in sync with the guidelines issued by the Government.
“All drivers will be specially trained in safety procedures and provided with personal protective equipment including masks, sanitisers and disinfectants to sanitise UberMedic cars after each ride. Uber salutes all our frontline healthcare workers and will continue supporting them and the government in the days and weeks ahead,” said Pradeep Parameswaran, president, Uber India and South Asia.
