India Inc. Goes All Out To Get Employees To Vote; Paid Leaves, Registration Camps And Reward Points On The Table

Corporate India is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that its employees to go out and vote in the 2019 general elections, with many companies allowing workers leaves to travel and vote, reports Economic Times (ET).

While Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart is organising voter registration camps for staff, South Korean electronics major Samsung has granted employees days off to travel and vote, with the assurance that these off-days will not be counted as leave.

On the other hand, Jubilant FoodWorks which runs popular restaurants chain like Domino’s and Dunkin Donuts in India, has given a day off to its employees for voting. New-age food tech company Swiggy is promoting a ‘pledge to vote’ campaign for its massive delivery staff.

Taking its commitment to democracy further, Swiggy has promised ‘Swiggy Smiles’ as reward points to delivery partners who vote. Legacy brands like L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, H&M and Titan, have also provided employees a day off to cast votes.

Differentiating itself from the crowd, American fast food chain KFC has launched its ‘finger inkin good’ campaign, which is a spinoff its famous ‘finger lickin good’ slogan to encourage voting.
