India Keen To Resume Vaccine Exports To Bangladesh: Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami Tells Media In Dhaka

Speaking to reporters in Bangladesh, Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami on bygone Sunday (20 June) said that India is keen to resume the export of COVID-19 vaccines to Bangladesh as soon as possible, reports Times of India.

Doraiswami said, "We hope the problem will be resolved soon." The matter gains significance as Bangladesh is also presently witnessing an alarming rise in fresh COVID-19 cases and deaths. The health authorities there have also detected the presence of the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus.


Bangladesh had begun its vaccination drive against COVID-19 using Covishield doses produced by the Serum Institute of India in Pune. However, following the scathing second wave in India, vaccine exports had come to a temporary halt.
