India-Russia Strengthen Military Cooperation: INDRA Exercises To Begin In Jhansi From 18 November

India and Russia will be conducting joint military exercises in Jhansi from 18 November, India Today has reported. INDRA 2018 exercises will be held at the Babina Field Firing Ranges. The joint military exercise which commenced in the year 2003, is primarily aimed at combating insurgency. The previous INDRA tri-services exercises were held in Vladivostok (Russia).
The military exercise will focus on enhancing team building, special tactical level operations (such as Cordon and Search), house intervention, handling and neutralisation of Improvised Explosive Devices. The military exercise will be held for 11 days. Servicemen of motorised units of Russia’s Eastern Military District and a mechanised infantry battalion will participate in the exercises.
Senior officers from both sides will supervise the training exercises. INDRA military exercises are aimed at strengthening mutual confidence and interoperability. It also assists the two sides to share best practices. Joint military exercises have become an integral part of defence cooperation between India and Russia.
The two countries will also be having meeting of the Indian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical cooperation in December this year.
