India-South Korea Defence Ties: Naval Logistical Support Among Two MoUs Including Signed Between Countries

India and South Korea have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to upgrade the defence ties between the countries during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the country, IANS reports.
The two MoUs that have been signed are aimed at mutual logistical support to each other’s naval forces and another towards expanding defence educational exchange.
Singh earlier met with the South Korean PM Lee Nak-yon and then met the Defence Minister Jeong Kyeong-Doo. The two sides discussed service-to-service level co-operation along with the collaboration between the Indian and South Korean defence industries.
"Had productive discussions with the Minister of National Defence of RoK, Mr Jeong Kyeong-Doo, during bilateral meeting. The ongoing defence cooperation engagements have made good progress in recent years. We agreed that there was great potential to further enhance these ties," the minister tweeted.
Earlier in the year, L&T had unveiled the K9 Vajra-T howitzers for which it had entered into a contract with South Korea’s Hanwha Techwin for joint manufacturing of the guns.
K9 Vajra-T is a variant of South-Korean K9 Thunder 155mm/52 calibre self-propelled howitzer. It has been modified for the Indian conditions to meet requirements of army, including operations in desert.
