India is likely to evacuate around 180 Afghan Sikh and Hindu nationals, including the relatives of those who had been murdered in the 25 March attack on a Gurudwara in the Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul, reports Times of India.

The dastardly Kabul Gurudwara attack had led to the death of 25 Sikh worshippers.

The evacuees on 26 July included a Sehajdhari Sikh named Nidan Singh and a young girl Salmeet Kaur. Nidan had been kidnapped in Afghanistan and was later rescued by the Afghan security forces. Meanwhile, Kaur had been lured by a Muslim boy to marry him. It should be noted that Kaur's father and uncle had also died in the Kabul Gurudwara attack.

It should be noted that the population of Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan which once stood at about one lakh, has fallen to just about 700. The people of two communities are known to have been subjected to discrimination, terror, violence and persecution at the hands of radical Islamist extremists of the war-torn nation.
