Indian Armed Forces Likely To Collaborate For Establishment Of Logistics, Peninsula And Air Defence Commands

The Indian armed forces are set to witness a major overhaul with the likely creation of an air defence command, a peninsula command and a logistics command as per the details made public by the nation's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, reports Times of India.
The air defence command would cover all aerial operations taking place in the Indian airspace and the peninsula command would look after all the naval operations taking place in the closer Indian Ocean region. And, the logistics command would take up the responsibility of all the integrated logistical operations of the armed forces.
It should also be noted that the commanders of each of these theatre commands would report directly to the respective service chiefs.
"In order to become the armed forces of the Union, we need to start working on some of the aspects where we think immediate integration can happen,” General Rawat was quoted in the report as saying.
"We feel that all the assets which are there must integrate under one service so that command and control issues can be simplified,” he said.
