Indian Army Disposes Of 1600 Tonnes Of Unexploded Ordnance To Ensure Safety Of Civilians: Report

The Indian Army undertook operation ‘Visphotak Mukt Bandargarh’ under the directions of the Defence Ministry to dispose of 1,600 metric tonnes of unexploded ordnance to ensure the safety of civilians in Mumbai and several other locations.
Around 800 tonnes of unidentified explosive objects (UEO) along with explosive content of more than 2000 kg of RDX/TNT was disposed of in Mumbai itself.
The Central Ammunition Depot from Pulgaon in the Wardha district of Maharashtra had deployed a special bomb disposal team to survey, segregate and dispose of the unexploded ordnance.
Actually, the southern command had already carried out a similar task in the recent past too. In March 2021, it had harmlessly disposed of unexploded ordnance in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu too, as reported by PTI.
