Hours after Pakistani soldiers attacked the Line of Control, killing and mutilating two Indian soldiers in an act of ceasefire violation, the Indian Army retaliated. According to an India Today report, the Indian Army destroyed two Pakistani bunkers and killed seven Pakistani soldiers.
The Northern Command of the Indian Army had earlier announced that the attack would receive a suitable response after Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) had mounted an attack on India in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. They had set up a trap to ambush Indian troops that were patrolling the region before attacking them with rockets and mortar bombs.

Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat too was in Srinagar to assess the situation.

More details awaited.
