Indian Army To Conduct Recruitment Drive In Kashmir Valley From 3-4 October To Fill In 3,000 Vacancies

The Indian Army is set to organise its first-ever recruitment drive in the Kashmir Valley on 3-4 October after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two separate Union territories, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Making public the decision to hold the recruitment drive in the first week of October, Lt Gen K J S Dhillon on Saturday (14 September) stated that the recruitnment drive was being held in order to fill in 3,000 vacancies.

Dhillon also said that the Indian Army would also be organising a 15-day long training programme before the recruitment drive begins. This is aimed at ensuring that the participating boys will be able to compete and get recruited.

Dhillon who is the General Commanding Officer (GOC), 15 Corps is presently the highest-ranking army officer handling the affairs on the ground in the Kashmir Valley. He is serving his seventh stint in the region since 1988, and his present charge began on 10 February.
