Pakistan on Saturday (1 December) violated the ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in Shahpur and Qasba areas of the Poonch sectors of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Asian News International (ANI).
Befittingly returning the favour, the Indian Army responded with lethal 82 mm mortar rounds inflicting major damage on the other end of the border. Acknowledging the retaliation by the Indian forces, Pakistan Army spokesperson claimed that two of its officers had been injured by the firing by Indian Army in Rakhchikri and Rawalkot sectors along the LoC.
From August to October alone, Pakistan's forces deployed along the LoC have violated the ceasefire as many as 950 times, while also violating the ceasefire along the International border between the two nations in Jammu region as many as 79 times.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
