The AK-47 rifle of the Indian Army is all set to become deadlier with additions like night sight, holographic sight, flash light, laser beams and weapon speciality kits, The Tribune has reported.

As per a request for information floated by the Indian Army, the process has begun to acquire the aforementioned add-ons and items like tactical flashlight, polymer rails, fibre reinforced grip, cheek rest, side mounts and extendable butt stocks. This equipment can be attached to the rifle as and when required.

The Indian Army is also looking to replace its ageing INSAS rifle which apart from being prone to glitches is also becoming obsolete.

Recently the Indian Army had announced its plan to acquire 72,000 Sig Sauer 716 assault rifles from USA under fast-track procedures.
