Indian Golfer Diksha Dagar Provided Late Entry To Tokyo Olympics: Report

The International Golf Federation has communicated to the Indian Golf Union (IGU) to inform athlete Diksha Dagar that she has been provided a late entry into the Tokyo Olympics in the women’s golf competition that will start on 5th August.
Diksha was apparently a part of the reserves list and now the IGU is making swift arrangements in order to ensure that the 20-year-old manages to reach Tokyo in the appropriate time.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has also kick-started the required formalities for Dagar’s accreditation and travel purposes while she might not have to undergo any long quarantine issues either.
However, her father and coach Naren Dagar might have to go through some procedures in order to assist his daughter given that he had just returned back to India.
Actually, South African golfer Paula Reto’s withdrawal from the Games and Austria’s subsequent refusal to reallocate a spot for their player Sarah Sohber paved the way for Dagar’s entry into the quadrennial event.
Suffering from hearing impairment, Diksha has also represented India at the Deaf Olympics in 2017 in which she bagged a silver medal, Times of India reports.
She will now earn the unique distinction of turning up for the country in both the Deaf Olympics as well as the main Olympics.
