Indian Navy’s Largest Amphibious Warship INS Jalashwa Brings Back 588 More Indians From Maldives

In its second trip to bring back stranded Indian nationals from Maldives, Indian Navy's largest amphibious warship INS Jalashwa has successfully brought back 588 people, reports The Hindu.
The warship docked at Kochi today (17 May), the same destination as in case of its previous trip to the Maldives during which it had facilitated the return of 698 Indian nationals from the island nation on 10 May.
Apart from INS Jalashwa, Indian Navy's INS Magar too has been deployed by the government to bring back stranded Indians from the Maldives. It carried out its first evacuation mission on 12 May, bringing back 300 Indians to Kochi.
The voyages to bring back Indian nationals from the Maldives are being undertaken by the Navy under the ongoing Samudra Setu mission. The mission is being pursued in parallel to the Vande Bharat Mission under which special Air India flights are being operated to bring back scores of stranded Indians from across the world.
The voyages are being carried out as an outcome of close coordination between the Indian Embassies/High Commissions based in destination nations, the Indian Navy and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
