Insta
The Google office.
In a major development, the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has written to Google India pressing that the technology behemoth must pay for using the news content generated by newspapers, reports Economic Times.
In a letter addressed to Google India's country manager Sanjay Gupta, INS said that Google has recently agreed to compensate and pay the publishers in France, the European Union and in Australia.
INS has also said that the newspaper publishers are also facing a very opaque advertising system as they do not get details of Google's advertising value chain. It has called on the company to ensure more transparency in the revenue reports provided to publishers.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
