President of the United States Donald J. Trump’s administration has seen many high profile resignations and firing in the last two years including Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, Mike Flynn et al. The latest inclusion in the list is Nikki Haley, United States Ambassador to United Nations, who has resigned from her position on Tuesday but will stay in the position till the end of 2018, Free Press Journal has reported.

President Trump accepted her resignation and in a rare instance, gave her a send-off in the oval office of the White House. Trump was all praise for Nikki and said that she has done an incredible job at the United Nations.

“I wanted to do this [Oval Office send-off] because Nikki Haley, ambassador to the United Nations, has been very special to me. She’s done an incredible job. She’s a fantastic person, very importantly. But she also is somebody that gets it,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

President said to the reporters that Nikki told him six months ago about taking a “little time off”. Trump also said that Nikki is a fantastic person and is very special to him.

Nikki Haley, 46, was the governor of South Carolina from 2010-17 and is the first ever American-Indian in any Presidential cabinet of USA. She was nominated to the United Nations by President Trump in January 2017 and was serving there since.

“It has been an honour of a lifetime. I — you know, I said I am such a lucky girl. To have been able to lead the state that raised me and to serve a country I love so much has really been a blessing and I want to thank you for that,” said Nikki.

Haley also said that she is planning to stay till the year end. When asked about why she is resigning she shaid that there are no personal reasons behind her resignation and that it is time for her to resign.
