Indian Railways: 2.3 Lakh New Jobs In Next Two Years, Newly Recruited Strength To Increase To 4 Lakh

Indian Railways is all set to recruit at least 230,000 people in the next two years as per Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, reports Business Standard. This is in addition to the 1.5 lakh youths who are scheduled to join the national transporter soon.

“We will create 4,00,000 more jobs including 1,50,000 who will join our ranks soon,” Goyal said. There will be 132,000 posts open with the railways, even after the current notified vacancies are filed.

“Over 1,00,000 people are going to retire from the railways in the next two years, and we have decided to fill those vacancies too,” Goyal added.

Almost 131,328 posts shall declared open in February-March 2019 in the first phase of fresh recruitment. Vacancies shall be reserved for scheduled castes (19,715), scheduled tribes (9,857) and other backward caste candidates (35,485), as per the government’s new reservation policy.

“We be inviting tenders for appointing technical and other back-end operators to fill up 132,000 vacancies soon.The reservations for economically weaker sections of society will be applicable in the coming recruitment,” Goyal added.
