Indian Railways Announces Two New Intercity Expresses Linking Arunachal-Assam Via India’s Longest Rail-Road Bridge

Following the inauguration of Bogibeel bridge - India’s longest rail-road bridge, Indian Railways is planning to introduce two intercity express trains that will link Tinsukia and Naharlagun.

Boosting the connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh, the first train will run on 25 December as an inauguration special. Starting from Dibrugarh at 11.30 AM, the train will reach Naharlagun by 6.55 PM. Regular intercity express trains will begin tomorrow (26 December). One train is weekly and the other one runs five days a week, Financial Express reported.

Some of the stations en route the intercity express trains are New Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Dhamalgaon, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Gogamukh and Harmuti stations. The train has nine second class coaches with seating arrangement and one air-conditioned chair car. Apart from this, two luggage-cum-generator cars will be present.

Boosting the connectivity in the northeastern part of the country, this will also help the movement of troops and weapons to the China border. The bridge has two broad gauge lines and a three-lane road and is said to have a lifespan of over 120 years.
