Indian Railways Exports Cape Gauge Diesel Locomotives To Mozambique

The Indian Railways has exported four Cape Gauge Diesel Locomotives to east African country Mozambique, the New Indian Express reports.
These locomotives were manufactured at the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW). Mozambique’s President Philipe Nyusi inaugurated their run on 11th February.
“The 3000HP Locomotives are currently being operated to haul 3561 tonnes of coal from Coal mines to the port of Beira, hauling 43 wagons,” Indian Railways’ senior executive Rajiv Jain was quoted in a report by the aforementioned publication.
The Cape Gauge Diesel Locomotives that are used for exports can haul 2255 tonnes at 100 kmph at the level track.
It is also equipped with an AC traction system, a computer-controlled brake system and a fuel tank of 600 liters for longer operation.
“We look forward to more opportunities to play a key role in India's International Economic Cooperation initiative in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs and the RITES” said BLW’s executive Anjali Goyal.
