Fitness machine installed at Anand Vihar railway station (Video screengrab)
Railways Minister Piyush Goyal in a tweet on Friday (21 February) announced the opening of a novel ticket vending machine at Delhi’s Anand Vihar railway station.
Via this machine passengers will be able to get free platform tickets after they exercise by performing a certain number of squats.
As seen in the video, a passenger would have to perform squats by standing before the machine whose sensor after detecting the required number of sit ups will dish out a free platform ticket.
This is a first of its kind machine installed at a railway station in India and aims at encouraging fitness and exercise among passenger.
Such machines have also been installed at the Moscow railway station where passengers get a free train ticket if they perform a certain number of squats.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
