Indian Railways’ Latest Feat: South Central Zone Crosses 10,000-Crore Mark In Freight Loading For First Time Ever

Surpassing the set target by 10 per cent, South Central Railway has achieved its highest incremental loading ever. The zones loading has already reached 19.47 Million Tonnes (MT) this year. It broke its own record of 116.80 MTs set in 2017-2018 by registering 122.51 MTs for the financial year 2018 - 2019.
SCR clocked 10,584.94 crores in freight loading crossing 10,000 crore for the first time since its inception. The railways freight included transportation of commodities to various industries and steel plants.
It loaded Coal weighing 67.56 MTs; Cement at 28.23MTs and Iron ore of 5.46 Metric Tonnes. It also transported food grains weighing 4.42 MTs and fertilisers weighing 6 MTS, including raw materials to steel plants at 2.89 MTs; containers at 1.30 MTs; petroleum products (POL) at 0.78 MTs and other goods at 5.91 MTs.
Principal Chief Operations Manager N Madhusudhan Rao on Monday (1 April) said, “This feat was achieved thanks to the Operating Department’s efficient coordination with other branches and various strategies the department came up with to increase freight loading."
“SCR formed an action plan to analyse the requirements of freight customers on a day-to-day basis and took efforts to fulfil them,” he added. Later that day SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya lauded the efforts of all those responsible for achieving the feat and congratulated the entire team of officials.
