India's Covid-19 Tally Crosses 8 Lakh Mark With Record 27,114 New Cases; Fatalities Surge Past 22,000

With the highest single-day spike of 27,114 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 8,20,916, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (11 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 2,83,407 are active cases while at least 5,15,386 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from Friday's 21,604 to 22,123, an increase of 519 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 2,38,461 cases, including 9,893 fatalities, and 1,32,625 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,30,261 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 109,000-mark with as many as 1,09,140 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported the fourth highest tally of 40,069 cases.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,300), Gujarat (2,022), Tamil Nadu (1,829), Uttar Pradesh (889), West Bengal (880), and Madhya Pradesh (638).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (33,700), Karnataka (33,418), Telangana (32,224), West Bengal (27,109), Andhra Pradesh (25,422), Rajasthan (23,174), Haryana (19,934), Madhya Pradesh (16,657), Assam (14,600), Bihar (14,575), and Odisha (11,956).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Jammu and Kashmir (9,888), Punjab (7,357), Kerala (6,950), Chhattisgarh (3,767), Jharkhand (3,419) and Uttarakhand (3,373) .

According to the Health Ministry, 3,416 cases are being re-assigned to states.
