India's Covid-19 Tally Crosses 9 Lakh Mark With 28,498 New Cases; Fatalities Rise To 23,727

With the single-day spike of 28,498 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 9,06,752, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Tuesday (14 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 3,11,565 are active cases while at least 5,71,460 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from Friday's 23,174 to 23,727, an increase of 553 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 2,60,924 cases, including 10,482 fatalities, and 1,44,507 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,42,798 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 113,000-mark with as many as 1,13,740 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported the fourth highest tally of 42,722 cases.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,411), Gujarat (2,055), Tamil Nadu (2,032), West Bengal (956), Uttar Pradesh (955), and Madhya Pradesh (663).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Karnataka (41,581), Uttar Pradesh (38,130), Telangana (36,221), West Bengal (31,448), Andhra Pradesh (31,103), Rajasthan (24,936), Haryana (21,894), Madhya Pradesh (18,207), Bihar (17,959), Assam (16,806), Odisha (13,737) and Jammu and Kashmir (10,827).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark Kerala (8,322), Punjab (8,178), Chhattisgarh (4,217), Jharkhand (3,898), Uttarakhand (3,608), Goa (2,583) and Tripura (2,080) .

According to the Health Ministry, 2,179 cases are being re-assigned to states.
