India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To 6.25 Lakh With Record 20,903 New Cases, Death Toll Surges To 18,213

With a record spike of 20,903 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 6,25,544, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Friday (3 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 2,27,439 are active cases while at least 3,79,892 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from Thursday's 17,834 to 18,213, an increase of 379 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 186,626 cases, including 8,178 fatalities, and 1,01,172 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 98,392 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 92,000-mark with as many as 92,175 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Gujarat has reported 33,913 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,864), Gujarat (1,886), Tamil Nadu (1,321), Uttar Pradesh (735), West Bengal (699), and Madhya Pradesh (589).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (24,825), West Bengal (19,819), Rajasthan (18,662), Telangana (18,570), Karnataka (18,016), Andhra Pradesh (16,097), Haryana (15,509), Madhya Pradesh (14,106) and Bihar (10,471).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Assam (9,013), Jammu and Kashmir (7,849), Odisha (7,545), Punjab (5,784), Kerala (4,753), Chhattisgarh (3,013), Uttarakhand (2,984) and Jharkhand (2,584).

According to the Health Ministry, 6,031 cases are being re-assigned to states.
