India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To Over 10.38 Lakh With 34,884 New Cases; Fatalities Surge Past 26,000

With a spike of 34,884 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 1,038,716, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (18 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 3,58,692 are active cases while at least 6,53,751 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from previous day's 25,602 to 26,273, an increase of 671 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 2,92,589 cases, including 11,452 fatalities, and 1,60,357 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,60,907 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 1.20 lakh-mark with as many as 1,20,107 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Karnataka has reported the fourth highest tally of 55,115 cases.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,571), Tamil Nadu (2,315), Gujarat (2,106), Karnataka (1,147), Uttar Pradesh (1,084), West Bengal (1,049), and Madhya Pradesh (697).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Gujarat (46,430), Uttar Pradesh (45,163), Telangana (42,496), Andhra Pradesh (40,646), West Bengal (38,011), Rajasthan (27,789), Haryana (24,797), Bihar (23,589), Madhya Pradesh (21,081), Assam (20,646), Odisha (16,110), Jammu and Kashmir (12,757) and Kerala (11,066).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Punjab (9,442), Chhattisgarh (4,964), Jharkhand (4,921), Uttarakhand (4,102), Goa (3,304) and Tripura (2,366) .

According to the Health Ministry, 163 cases are being re-assigned to states.
