All DigiLocker clients would now be able to download digitally signed XMLs and JSONs of some essential records (PAN Verification, Driving License, Vehicle RC), which can then be utilised for machine to machine verifications without the involvement of either the DigiLocker or the guarantor office.

This feature would be advantageous to various FinTechs, Non Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs) and the Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industry to conduct background checks of their users. This feature is now available on both Android and iOS platforms.

The DigiLocker service introduced by the Indian government allows users to store digital copies of their official documents like driving license, PAN card, education certificates on its server. The users can thus avoid carrying the physical copies of the documents with them.

Currently the government offers a 1 GB free storage for the users to store their documents. One currently needs an Aadhaar card to avail this service.

Currently, one can use his or her documents stored in the DigiLocker to go past airport security and traffic police check-posts in cities.
