India's Phase-II Covid Vaccination Drive To Begin From 1 March; All Aged Above 60 To Get Free Vaccine At Government Centres

The Narendra Modi led Union Cabinet on Wednesday (24 February) approved the launch of India's Phase-II Covid-19 vaccination drive, Hindustan Times has reported.
Under this drive, all individuals aged above 60 and those aged above 45 (who are suffering from comorbidities) can take Covid-19 vaccination shots in government and private clinics.
The vaccination will be available free of cost in government clinics while the patient has to bear the vaccination charge if he or she chooses to go to a private clinic.
The first phase of Covid-19 vaccination in India is currently underway and covers government and private healthcare workers, doctors, sanitation workers, police and defence personnel.
Currently two Covid-19 vaccines namely Covishield and Covaxin have been approved by the DGCI with other vaccines including the Russian Sputnik currently under development.
