‘India’s Self-Confidence Is At An All Time High’: PM Modi Delivers Final Lok Sabha Speech Before 2019 Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (13 February) delivered his final Lok Sabha speech before the 2019 elections as the sixteenth session of the Parliament drew to a close.

During the speech, Modi thanked Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for her role in conducting the Lok Sabha proceedings and paid a tribute to late parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar.

He also asserted that the self-confidence of India as at an all time high which was described as a positive sign by Modi as it usually bring an impetus for development.

Modi noted that the Lok Sabha has passed stringent laws against corruption, black money and spoke about the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

He also attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi by mocking the latter’s claim that there would be an earthquake of he (Rahul) is allowed to speak. Modi jovially commented that no earthquake struck the government in the last five years.

Earlier in the day the Lok Sabha witnessed intense scenes after Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav called for the return of Modi as the Prime Minister for the second term.
